Kids hear us say, “Eat some fruit.” But when they ask why, our answers are sometimes lacking for a young child. “Because it’s healthy.” What does healthy mean? What does good for you really mean? Shir Guez explains the value that color families of fruit have and why our bodies need them. She even provides colorful pictures, wonderfacts for added interest and the perfect opportunity for parents to learn along with their kids. If some of the descriptions are too difficult for a child to understand, it is another chance for parents to interact with their child as they explain. Sounds like a win/win situation to me! Don’t be surprised if somehow, some way, these words stick with your child as they grow up! If we don’t catch them at a young age, we foster another generation of unhealthy eaters as well as one that reads only when forced. Again, win/win! Sweet as Fruit is more than a children's book. It is an interesting and informative resource for all ages. Parents will love this book and will see the importance of encouraging not only their children to eat more fruit but themselves too. I enjoyed reading about the health values of eating all kinds of fruit. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Sweet as Fruit is more than a children's book. I like the point that this book is making and how informative it is. I do wonder if it is entertaining enough for children in order to help them want to learn about their fruits.

Well I certainly learned a lot by reading this book about eating healthy, nutritious fruits. "So...what would you like your food to be? Tasty? Sweet" Easy to make? Fast so you don't have to wait too long for it to be ready to eat? Appetizing? And at the same time, would you want it to be healthy? To help you feel full? To help you fight viruses and diseases? To make you feel better and stronger? Well, fruits have it all! They're both delicious and nutritious!" The author has compiled a collection Well I certainly learned a lot by reading this book about eating healthy, nutritious fruits. "So...what would you like your food to be? Tasty? To help you fight viruses and diseases? To make you feel better and stronger? Well, fruits have it all! They're both delicious and nutritious!" The author has compiled a collection of succulent fruits that are colourful, tasty and ripe for the picking. Her objective is to introduce your children to the delectable and available world of fruits and to encourage them to eat at least one cup of fresh fruit daily. She has framed her book around a variety of delicious fruits and highlights their nutritional value and contribution to your good health if eaten often. Consuming seasonal fruit is the by far the best and she recommend that you chose fruits that you love to eat. "...every fruit contains important nutrients. For example, some of the fruits contain large amounts of vitamin C, while others contain large amounts of vitamin K or Lycopene. Therefore, to get all the nutrients you need, try to diversity the fruits you eat. Try not to eat the exact same fruits every day." The illustrations are crisp and clear and will have you salivating ... just one bite please. Guez has included some "Fun Fact" pages just for pure entertainment and enjoyment. Here are a few examples: * The Apollo 15 astronauts carried apricot food bars for a snack during increasingly long work periods on the moon's surface." * Dates can be a healthier replacement for chocolate in many recipes. For example, they can be used as a healthy replacement in chocolate balls, along with nuts and almonds! *The Guinness World Record set the heaviest mango as 3.435 kg (7.57 lb)! The record was set in the Philippines in August 2009. The mango was harvested from the yard of a couple named Sergio and Maria Socorro Bodiongan. Children (and adults too) will learn how eating fruit can benefit their health and lifestyle. A clever add on is presented at the end of the book: a free game for kids to play and for the whole family to enjoy. This is the second book in the series "Nutrildren - Nutrition for Children", the first being "Nuts about Nuts." I would highly recommend this book for elementary school aged kids and especially reserve a spot for it in the classroom plus a copy or two for the school library.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I can see it’s going to be a real winner amongst moms and dads, grandparents and others dedicated to the well-being of children. It separates into colour order so that we can fully understand the importance of each group and mixing them up. It offers a rainbow of delicious facts about mouth-watering fruits most of which are available from your local supermarket. It tells us what important minerals each fruit contains and how they can benefit our health. It also offers interesting historical information. We’ve always been a big supporter of leaving a fresh bowl of fruit on hand for our children so I was super excited when I was given a copy to review. Research has proven that eating healthy is not only good for your physical being but also your mental health. The old adage “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” has never been truer. Sweet as Fruit is definitely a must read for adults, as well as, children. Children will enjoy the simple format and the large colour images. Adults will enjoy sharing the important nutritional information with their child. Any book that encourages healthy eating is a winner with me and this book definitely deserves its 5 star rating.

Very interesting book but I felt it was more directed to the older kids and adults because of all the technical terms that one can hardly pronounce but with a parent reading along with a child they could easily understand about the fruit and why we must eat it daily. Super photos and fun facts about all the fruit we can easily get throughout the year in the US and it's link to the states. Learned so much by reading this and hope the next book will be along the same lines but about vegetables. Love the idea of having a balanced rainbow source of fruits. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end along with a clickable link for free gifts. Was alerted to this free kindle book from the author and I have provided this honest review.

Although this is the second book in the series “ Nutrition for Children” by the author, Shir Guez has, in fact, written three books to help children (and adults) learn more about the health benefits of foods. This latest book is every bit as good as the others, complete with easy to understand facts and high quality illustrations. I found it to be an informative and easy read. When it comes to authors who write about nutrition, Shir Guez is my favorite. This is not your common picture book. This is a book for parents to read to their older children or for them to read on their own. I loved this book because it teaches about different fruits and their importace to our bodies. One of the reasons I love her books is I always learn something new. This book was no different. She spoke about the Lychee fruit. "Children's Books: Sweet as Fruit" by Shir Guez is written for children between the ages of 4-11. The book talks about the health benefits of eating fruit, and staying away from other sugar foods such as candy. Highly educational as it talks about different fruits and their nutritional value. Great to either read to your children or have them read this book to you. Every time I take books in my hand, or read as an e-books, written by Shir Guez, I grow to know more things about food. She knows the importance to eat healthy, not only nuts, legumes, but also fruits… and she delivers great pages of information for children, as well as their parents, to know about the fruit world. She draws children to love their fruits, and with colorful images and fun facts she makes her book interesting, educational, and practical.
